STREET FASHION - 080 STYLE

From the first day of the 080 BARCELONA FASHION SHOW people whore their best outfits, showing to everyone thir skills on mixing trends, textile, colors and complements, no matter if it has to stand out from the mass or because they were true fashionistas. The truth is that we actually saw great styles and creativity since the beggining to the end of show.

080 BARCELONA FASHION 2011

Barcelona has been during three days in the spotlight of design, inspiring the whole city with creativity and innovation, dressing Miquel Tarradell Square with avant-garde designs. Little by little 080 Barcelona Fashion has been growing since 2007, tanking an important place for itself on the independent fashion circuit.

Of course the main attraction are the catwalks. In this edition, 18 independent designers present to us their proposals for Fall/Winter 2011 - 2012. The 31st of January Juan Antonio Ávalos who left us glued to the chair with his ingenious idea of sending the models shooting the public reaction with IPhones while modeling his “Constructivism with Russia with Love”, Motse Liarte with her geometrical collection “Fractal”, Brain & Beast, Karlotlaspalas and Tsolo Munhk were incharge of opening the show.

The second day apparently nobody wanted to miss what was shown at 080, a wave of people showing their best (or no so best) and more fashionable outfits, passed by giving the impression that the recycled (World Race) tent was going to explode, long wait and queues to get a sit from 11:00 to 20:30 to see Justicia Ruano with her perfectly chic “Hotel Deco”, Miquel Suay with “Haiku” collection full of structures and strait lines, Miriam Ponsa who took us to a world of launderers and industrial women with “Les Bugaderes”, Josep Abril thinking in confort and “second skin” pieces for men, Txell Miras with her fantastic “Faded to Black”, Cardona Bonache, Juun.J and finally Krizia Robustela, thanks to the collaborators we were able to have a snack between show and show with Heiniken, Lays and Mentos just to refresh our mouths and minds and get ready for the next session.

Finally day 3, after watching Omar Kashoura, Celia Vela, Schipper/Arques and Manuel Bolaño, there was a doubt in the air, everybody wanted to know who were going to be the winners, with 30 minutes (maybe more) of delay and people still standing in a side of the grandstand (due to the lack of seats or to the overhanded tickets) the ceremony started with the regular speeches, thanks, greetings and congratulations, in Catalan, Spanish and even French followed by the surprise of knowing that for the first time the international jury decided to give the two 10.000€ (best men and best women collection) price to the same designer, a designer who (as they said) knew exactly how to represent creativity, freshness and identity with her “sport deluxe” style and her kind of back to school collection, Krizia Robustella! Almost unable to speak, she picked up her prices and with a shaking voice barely said thank you, right after Miriam Ponsa was honored by the Union of Women Fashion Paris to attend with a stand to the next edition of “Atmosphere” of Paris.

The 080 BARCELONA FASHION continues to grow, in this 2011 edition more than 250 media were accredited, of which over 21% were international journalists and Showrooms allowed buyers and commercial establishments of the sector make very interesting business contacts which led more than 165 orders.
